🐾 The dog’s belly size was an immediate concern, plus fever, so I asked to take the dog to the clinic for an ultrasound and blood work.
The dog was aggressive except towards its owners so I let them carry the dog and the woman hopped on the Rescue Rocket with me and off we went!

I am very thankful for good veterinary care here ♥️ the swelling of the abdomen was because the bladder was overextended so we placed a catheter and emptied it. Initial suspicion is that all of these symptoms are caused by untreated blood parasites. Bladder, weakness, lack of appetite are usually suggestive that the parasites have caused substantial damage to the internal organs already. Bloodwork results will show us soon whether prognosis is good or not.

For now, the dog (Coco) is at the clinic receiving care 🥰 if you can help with a donation, please do! None of us take a salary and we receive no government support or grants for our rescue initiatives. We take animals to the clinic and then fundraise to help pay for their care 💕 these animals would often receive no medical interventions without us looking out for them.

You might wonder “but what about the other donations that come through that aren’t marked for any particular case? Can’t you use those?” Those donations go towards buying all of our monthly medications and supplies, food, and they help cover the hospital bills of the many smaller cases (or the terminal cases) we never post about and who also need our help greatly 💕

These are the current dogs (and cats!) and their outstanding bills: 🐕 & 🐈‍⬛
🐕 Panda (cancer, fully recovered): 10,000 baht needed ($280 USD)
🐕 Nestle (TVT cancer plus spay): estimated 8-10,000 baht more left to raise (~$220-280 USD)
🐕 Mom (TVT cancer plus spay, fully recovered): 5,000 baht not yet covered by donations ($140 USD)
🐕 Brazil (broken leg and cancer, may need eye surgery once cancer treatment is finished): 13,000-20,000 baht ($320-$540 USD)
🐈 Kitty with the really bad eye infection and the another kitty who’d stopped eating (1st case improving, second case has made a full recovery): 4,000 baht left to raise ($120 USD)
🐕 Fleur (mass at the leg, needs it removed): 10,000 baht ($280 USD)
🐕 Flea/tick medications: 1/2 of the 100,000 baht order was raised. 50,000 baht left to raise ($1400 USD)
🐕 Fans/mosquito lights/dog beds: 25,000 baht left to raise ($700 USD)

💙 That is a massive 134,000 baht ($3,800 USD) needed! We can go ahead and order only half of the flea & tick medications and fundraise again in a few months but even then, we are 84,000 baht ($2,400 USD) short.

This is more than usual so I am asking for a bit of help if possible 💕no worries if you are struggling and can’t make a donation currently.

🦟 Mosquitoes are everywhere!!

🐾 After two years of heavy duty use, the fans, mosquito lights, and the bamboo beds need replacing!!

Expected costs are 35,000 baht ($950 USD) to replace the broken ones.

The old ones have lasted us a good few years but we need to spruce things up so the dogs’ play areas are beautiful again!! 🥰
