Funding for Cancer Treatment

🐕 I struggle with how to fundraise for these poor dogs- afflicted with genital cancer that is (usually) 100 percent treatable with the right medications and support, the tumors are so gruesome that it is almost impossible for me to post without it being incredibly upsetting.

This is my dilemma though: when I wait to post until the cancer is resolved, donations don’t come close to helping cover the expenses. We currently have 9 dogs receiving cancer treatment and donations currently cover the costs of 3 🙏

Here’s my philosophy- if an animal has to endure suffering and we have the power to change it, then we ought to try and be strong enough to witness it and be encouraged to help 🥰 I promise I try hard not to post when the situation is dire and nothing can be done. Those cases, I keep off of Facebook and walk through those situations on my own.

☀️ But on this occasion, the situation is horrendous BUT it is 100 percent reversible! So here is my tentative attempt at showing you the awfulness without really showing everything (trust me, the close ups are much worse).

🐕 This dog would die soon if he didn’t receive intervention. It’s actually incredible he’s still alive because he has had this cancer for three years already and usually, they don’t survive this long. The owners thought he was just “too old” for treatment but thankfully after explaining how we can monitor his health through regular bloodwork, they finally agreed to take him for treatment.

🐾 The cancer is all over his genitals: because of the massive tumor at the base of the genitals, the penis no longer retracts into the sheath at all so it is constantly exposed and vulnerable. This is the contagious cancer we often mention so any dog who licks it or any dog he tries to mate with would be a risk of contracting it too!

💜 Expected costs are about $250 USD total for his hospitalization, liver and kidney support, bloodwork, and neuter/vaccinations. He is just about 10 years old and has a good few years to live now that we are helping 🥰
