Yowzer!!!!!!! We saved a number of animals from life-threatening pyometra infections too π₯° and we started treating a dog for TVT cancer as well!!
Many villagers have very little income and some came on the back of a friendβs bike transporting their animals in a rice bag to ensure that their animal got spayed
π they were so grateful that this event was being offered for free β₯οΈ
πΎ Though weβd reached 70 registrations for cats and had closed registrations to ensure we stayed within the budget, our team and the team at BEES Elephant Foundation – BEF – just couldnβt turn away the 8 extra villagers who turned up with extra cats today pleading for us to spay them. If anyone can help us raise the 4,000 baht ($120 USD) to cover the 8 additional female cats who came to the event today, please send me a PM!
These events are hard work, difficult to fundraise for, but so so rewarding!!!! Each animal spayed realistically saves at least 100 lives and the smiles on the kids and families (and the animals!!!) says it all π₯°
π A mega thank you to Soi Dog Foundation for sponsoring the 50 dog spays, for an anonymous donor who covered the costs of 50 cat spays, and for all the other donations that came in allowing us to do the rest π€© many of the animals received flea treatment and rabies shots too!
A massive thank you to Emily McWilliam at BEES Elephant Sanctuary for hosting us, coordinating with the villagers and municipality and fundraising, a huge thank you to Ally Taylor for helping transport the autoclave and instruments and helping clean them as we went, a shout out to Di Dam for her help sterilizing instruments and repacking the spay kits, and to Chon Siyarat and Chutikarn Chaiban for helping clean too!! It took 5 of us going non-stop behind the scenes to make it work!!!
And of course, Iβve kept the best for last π incredible kudos and cheers goes to the dedicated team of 7 veterinarians and 12 assistants who left their house at 5am this morning to make the drive out to make this event possible π₯° simply amazing
