🐾 We are out in our village this week treating cats who unfortunately caught the deadly feline panleukopenia virus (feline parvo). A few have survived, including this little kitten and its litter mate! 💕

I put the villagers to work helping give fluids to their own animals whilst I prepare the rest of the medications 🙏
We were meant to be spaying this entire group of cats this weekend but we have altered our plans- choosing instead to wait until they are fully recovered first.

142 vaccinations were given this month 💜 142 more lives who won’t die of Parvo or Distemper virus and, since we will follow up to spay the animals too, are destined to lead happier and better lives 🥰

Featured below are puppies at an abandoned school yard. Everyone here will be sterilized, given flea/tick medications, multiple deworming, and we will deliver some food too ♥️

Another Parvo Recovery – White Cloud

🐾 White Cloud, whilst fighting off Parvo virus (and the wicked diarrhea that comes with it), ended up with a huge maggot infestation which caused the skin on his entire lower back to become necrotic. We immediately took him to the hospital to make sure he received pain killers, IV antibiotics, and extensive wound care but because of the parvo virus, he could not stay at the clinic and ended up in isolation at my house instead (with toys and cuddles). Considering how little and fragile he was, we were not sure he would survive.

But he did!! 6 months later, he’s a handsome happy young dog living happily with his family 🥰

🐾 Earlier this year, we saved this little temple puppy’s life by treating it against Parvo virus. He was one of the many affected by the outbreaks in our area and one of the lucky ones who had us by his side 💕

Thanks to your donations, he has grown up to be a big strong healthy boy!!

♥️ Hand to Paw will provide him medical care for the rest of his life.

Do you remember the 7 dogs vomiting and without energy on the back of a truck in the middle of the night, all suffering from life-threatening Parvo symptoms? We treated them all and saved their lives 🐾

Dog Care in Chiang Mai Community

😃 ☀️ We’ve had a spectacular day!! We returned to visit “Uncle’s” house in Mae Tang with 40 dogs and vaccinated, dewormed, gave Bravecto (for long term flea and tick prevention) to as many dogs as we could catch!! In some cases we needed to use nets but it was imperative that the dogs get a booster vaccine since Uncle occasionally picks up sick dogs and last time the dog he picked up was positive for Parvo… I am certain it is only thanks to the vaccinations we’d given previously that he didn’t lose more dogs at his place 🐕

We also went back to the new temple under our care with 30 dogs and cut spay stitches, dewormed, and vaccinated as many as possible there too! The thirteen teeny babies are thriving and the two momma dogs are deliriously happy to see us each time 🥰

One of the older puppies was lethargic and refusing to eat so we started treatment at the temple right away and then took her to the clinic for both Parvo testing and bloodwork (thankfully negative for Parvo, now back at my home for observation and care) ♥️

Vaccinating, deworming, and treating all of these dogs for fleas and ticks costs us just about 17,000 baht ($500 USD). Without doing this, the dogs would almost surely be doomed to get blood parasites from ticks, they would be susceptible to dying from Parvo or Distemper, and they would be severely malnourished from the intestinal worms stealing the nutrients from their food.

In one day, we alter those circumstances for the better!
